Mary Kathleen (Jackson) Gorrell, 90, of Davisville, went to be with the Lord July 25, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Cisco, W.Va., a daughter of the late Morello Jackson and Nellie Byrell (Leep) Jackson.
She was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church, but attended Cedar Grove Methodist Church after moving to Davisville. She worked for American Viscose and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital where she was a nursing assistant.
She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Mackey of Washington, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews, Donald Jackson (Karen) of Davisville, Helen Carr of Parkersburg, Sandy Haynes (Mike) of Williamstown, Mike Jackson (Marie) of Walker, Steve Jackson (Donna) of Williamstown, Lois Townsend (Steve) of Parkersburg, Tina Copenhaver (Mike) Fayetteville, N.C., and Kay Lowther (Ron) of Waterford, Ohio; great niece, Denise Lloyd; great nephew, David Jackson; several other great nieces and nephews that loved her very much; cousin, Dora Ann Carr; and special friends, James McKenzie (Janet), Debbie Smith and John Moore (Brenda).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Gorrell; three brothers, Donald, Ronald and Bernard Jackson; and nephew, Mark Jackson.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at The Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with the Rev. Brian Long officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
